Default Wing Commander Edward Richard Lacey DSO Burial place

    Dear all,
    Can anyone assist me.
I am trying to identify the place where Wing Commander Edward Richard Lacey DSO died and the location of his grave.

He flew with 219 squadron during the Battle of Britain and passed away in 1980.

Many thanks for any assistance that you may be able to offer me.

    Kind regards
    Gerry

    Gerry,

Through Ancestry I can see that he died in Gipping, Suffolk. No place of burial is listed. At least that narrows your search.

Just a word of caution. The records mean that he did not actually die within the Parish of Gipping, in Suffolk. His Death was Registered in the Registration District of Gipping. The Registration District of Gipping contains some 50 Parishes (where he may have been buried). There are also a number of crematoria in the area.

The simplest way is to buy his death certificate

Does a death cert state place of burial ? Or rather just place of death?

Most of the ones I've had have had (usually) a postal address where Death occurred - or a precise road/rail location, or (if in open countryside) a stated distance from a prominent landmark. Don't know where the Registrar's rules are?

I have a couple of dozen English/Welsh death certificates in my family history file (1840's to current) and they all show either a home address or a named hospital as the place of death aside from two who were killed in accidents and on those it states specifically "on the road outside" and an address. None of these show a place of burial.
