    Default Whitley V EDG

I've been reading through some 1940 ORBs and have come across the abbreviation EDG on a number of occasions, often as reason for aborting a mission. Can anyone explain what E.D.G. stands for.

    Thanks

    Hi Daz
Nope. Got us there. Can you give us any more context or quote an example so maybe we can have a stab at it?

Ian, this is one of the entries, it doesn't give much more information I'm afraid.

"Mission abandoned as E.D.G. became unserviceable"

A second states "operation aborted as E.D.G. found not to be working. Aircraft returned to base."

Could it be the Electric Directional Gyro instrument (vs the older venturi-driven type)?

    Peter,

I think you may be on the right track as I have found another operation being abandoned due to "E.D.G. Found not to be charging"

    Regards
