    RUSTON, John - AC2c - 951802 - a family tree on ancestry.co.uk has the following:

    Oxford, Oxfordshire, England
    Died of:- a fracture to the skull and laceration of the brain accidentally sustained by either by the deceased falling off the tailboard of a lorry or by being accidentally run over by a car after such a fall.

    "...approaching the coast between Dover and Folkestone, Green 1, F/O Proudman, informed the Flight Leader that he could see enemy through cloud... Blue Section returned safely to base but Green Section, consisting of F/O Proudman, P/O Brisbane, and Sgt Hayes, failed to return and nothing further was heard of them."

    R6615 - F/O Proudman
    N3129 - Sgt Hayes
    R6609 - P/O Brisbane

    That illustrates a minor down-side with the database (it is not a complaint, it is a superb resource)
    If TNA is wrong, as it is in this case: https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...ls/r/C14502903
    then the database will also be wrong. I presume it can be sorted by a "moderator".

    So, Hayes aircraft was N3129 after all ?
    As I edited my 1st post earlier, it is now too late to reverse it to my original choice of N3129 .

    "FCL" revised edition does have N3129 for Hayes this date ?
    P/O. N,J, Brisbane for R6609.
    So more searching needed ?
