    Default Blenheim L9408

    Hi,

Blenheim L9408 disappeared over Trondheim harbour on 15th June 1940 while serving with 254 squadron (source 254 ORB). In February 1942 L9408 is listed as serving with 1 coastal Artillery Unit, Bodorgan, Wales and later with 614 Squadron before being SOC on 18 August 1946 (source AB L series & 1GDGS ORB). Can anyone shed any light on this obvious mix up in serial numbers ??

    Kind regards

    Stevie

Blenheim L9480 was the aircraft missing on ops to Trondheim, it appears that the last two numerals have been transposed in the ORB!

    Hi Sean,
thanks for your reply. Yes it seems the last two numbers are an error in the ORB.
Unfortunately the error seems to have become a part of history, even down to the German pilot, who is credited with shooting down the wrong plane!

    Kind regards

    Stevie
