Following a crash landing involving a pupil pilot at 53 OTU a report of the flying accident states among other things that

"It is thought that this accident was due chiefly to inexperience on the part of the pilot... [...] It is recommended that his log book be endorsed in black ink accordingly."

What is does this mean? That the flight would be recorded in black ink (as opposed to? red?) because he was not to blame?
