    Default Trying to identify 345855 AC1 Mechanic G. M. M. GRIERSON

    Hi all

I'm going around in circles trying to identify the forenames and any further information (vitals, etc.) on the above man.

He was one of two men, the other being 349320 AC2 Frederick Alfred Edwin WORSFOLD, who were struck by the prop of 41 Sqn Snipe E6618 at Northolt on 3 July 1924. I have this information from the AM F528 accident card held by the RAF Museum, which I have an image of. Both were injured, not killed (extremely lucky!)

Grierson is listed as 'G. M. Grierson' on the accident card and, although the spelling of his handwritten surname and number are difficult to read, AIR 78/66/4 confirms he was 345855 GRIERSON G. M. M. I gather is number suggests he joined the RAF around 1921.

For clarity, 'M. M.' are not together on one line, suggesting the award of a Military Medal; rather, his surname and each initial are on their own lines, like this:

    GRIERSON
    G.
    M.
    M.
    345855
    F (this letter encircled)

I cannot find any entry for a man of this surname, with these initials, anywhere at the following locations:

Does anyone have any further ideas, or have had this chap pop up in their research?

    Many thanks in advance

Ancestry has a George Malcolm McFarlane Ewart Grierson b. 12 Nov 1902 in Wamphrey, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, d. 1993 Moffat, Dumfries-shire, Scotland

No mention of RAF service but the dates are about right

    Hi Chris

That's brilliant. Thank you very much!

I'll do some more digging to confirm it, but I think that has to be him.

Many thanks for taking the time to look him up for me.

    Regards
