Default 1264668 Flt Sgt Arthur Frederick Lacey DFM RAF - 156 (PFF) Sqn

Can anyone with access to the relevant Air Ministry Bulletin (AMB), please let me know if there is any mention of the above named NCO and the award of his DFM (announced on 17 July 1944)? I already have the DFM rec. via the DFM Register, but I am really struggling to find out any biographical material on the chap.

    Many thanks in advance

    Jonny

    Jonny,
    Arthur Frederick Lacey
Some circumstantial evidence – but not much! I have:-
    Births Q1 1911, Lacey, Arthur F, Reg Edmonton 3a 650.
1264688 Enlisted Jun 1940 at Uxbridge(?) age 29 (that Number could also have Enlisted at Gloucester or Penarth. Uxbridge is 18 miles from Edmonton).
    Deaths Q2 1981, Lacey, Arthur Frederick, 23JA1911, Reg Andover 65 20, age 70.
The Birth and Death are – I would think, and almost certainly – the same bloke? But whether he’s your bloke is highly speculative! You may have a better Enlistment date from your analogue data.

Thanks Col. To be honest, I came up with the same conclusions as you did. There appear to be several possible candidates for this man in the BDM on Ancestry, but I am struggling to nail him down. I was hoping the AMB might assist me in this quest. I have him as an Aug / Sep 40 enlistment, but he didn't get to ACRC until April 42, so either a deferred entry or he re-mustered to aircrew from ground crew.

    Cheers

Auctioneers got his NCO Number wrong. He was also Comd as 195997.
