This one has me scratching my head.
    Our database entry: http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...php?uniq=K7789
records the unit of K7789 as PRRP/TURP. This comes from the Air-Britain serials book, but is surely referring to two consecutive units, ie Pilots Reserve & Reinforcement Pool, followed by Training Unit and Reserve Pool
    The TNA file: https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...ls/r/C16471667
refers to 102 MU, which was indeed in Egypt at the time
    CWGC go for 113 Sqn:
    https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/fi...-john-redfern/
which was a Blenheim unit. Was Powning detached from that squadron? I can't find anything in the (meagre) ORB for that squadron at the time.

    Hello

    UK
BENNETT, Robert William - AC2c - 926312 - the Lincolnshire Echo of July 22nd 1940 reported the following:

    AIRMAN FATALLY INJURED
An inquest will be held at Lincoln County Hospital to-night on A/C.2 Robert William Bennett, R.A.F., who died in the hospital yesterday morning, after being involved in an accident on the Lincoln-Dunholme road on Saturday night.

The inquest was reported the next day, and the article recorded that Bennett was struck by a car as he and a Pte. Edwin Atkinson were walking from Nettleham to Dunholme on the Lincoln-Market Rasen road late on the Saturday night. The driver of the car, also named Bennett, saw the two men walking on the road as it curved in a gentle S bend, tried to swerve to avoid them but struck AC2 Bennett. He suffered a fractured thigh and a fracture of the base of the skull, from which he died 20 minutes after admission to hospital. A verdict of "Accidental death" was returned.

    He'll Andy,
    K File has -
AD Aboukir 28.4.39 for 45 Sqn; PRRP Ismailia. Wing hit ground in formation turn, Amriya, 20.7.40; pilot killed.
So PRRP = Pilots Reserve & Reinforcement Pool(Middle East). Which may well mean that Powning may well have earlier been with 113 Sqn and was attached to the MU at the time of the accident?
