    Yes AIR 81 files only for Shepherd and Claydon , but both crash-sites are not reported despite lost in the Rouen vicinity . Both were buried the following day at Rouen St Sever cemetary . Shepherd's Hurricane serial is unknown , Claydon's is P3450 .

    Now the question is : could we link a Hurricane construction number to a RAF serial ?
    Are there Hawker's archives available which could help solving this ? Unfortunately Form 78 does not reports construction number from manufacturer .

    Its been tried before - But I don't think we have enough primary evidence to help sort it out

    What is interesting is that the 3rd Production batch were all built at Hawkers in 3 Factories (Langley, Brooklands and Kingston) so now know that the aircraft were built out of overall c/n sequence - so Serials and construction numbers were allocated to different factories

    Shame we can't allocate a particular serials to factories
