Default Can we ID Officer SSC 1926 #24036. Air Force List 1927 or 1928 ?

    All

I am helping Bill Chorley with all GDB Officers fate (PC and SSC) to 1929 for his new book

The allocation of service numbers starts to become more deterministic from around 1924 onwards though not always the case

We are missing a name for #24036

let me explain the allocation is as follows

Pilot Officers on probation with effect from and with seniority of 18th Sept. 1926:

Geoffrey Charles BAINBRIDGE. 24018 LG 1 October 1926
    to
    24033 WEIGHILL Reginald George S/Ldr + 16.07.41 40 Squadron SSC LG 1 October 1926

    then

Frederic Laing COLLISON (Lit., 4th Essex
Regt.), is granted a short service commission as a Flying Officer, with effect from
and with seniority of 6th Sept. 1926

    24034 COLLINSON Frederic Laing F/O + 22.11.26 24 Squadron - his ssc LG 5 October 1926

    then

Harry BROADHURST is granted a short service commission as a Pilot Officer on probation, with effect from and with seniority
    of 1st Oct. 1926.

24035 BROADHURST Harry ACM 01.03.61 Retirement - his ssc LG 12 October 1926

    Missing

    24036 ?

    then

    GENERAL DUTIES BRANCH.
John Francis GRIFFITHS is granted a short
service commission as a Pilot Officer on probation, with effect from and with seniority
    of 3rd Dec. 192

    24037 GRIFFITHS John Francis G/Capt + 09.05.45 - his ssc 14 December 1926

    The 1927 ssc start with

24038 Arthur Reginald Sinclair DAVIES Arthur Reginald Sinclair

    The undermentioned are granted short
service commissions as Pilot Officers on probation, with effect from and with seniority
    of the 4th Jan. 1927:
    Arthur Reginald Sinclair DAVIES. 24038
    to
    Jack Whitworth WOOD 24048

We have ben though all LG's for period and can't find missing person - though it is possible there could be a late notification..

OK all well and good but how could we find missing man.

Well I was wondering if anyone could look at the Air Force list for 1927 o 1928 say and tell me in seniority list if anyone is missing as a P/O after Harry BROADHURST and before John Francis GRIFFITHS
or who the F/O is after the following 2 people

Alfred Rodney Feather 14 Oct 1926

Pilot Officer Alfred Rodney FEATHER is
promoted to the rank of Flying Officer.
    14th Oct. 1926.

James Stanley Blomfield 14 Oct 1926

    Thanks Paul

    Hi Paul

FWIW, Ross McNeil's database* shows Feather and Blomfield were commissioned Plt Off on 14 Mar 25, but does not provide their numbers.

I don't have either man in my own database, but other men of the 31 Mar 25 SSC intake are numbered around 19175-19195 (there may have been more but I don't have full coverage), which I hope provides some assistance with numbering.

Hope this helps a little. See also my separate e-mail to you.

    Regards
    Steve
