1222656 Leading Aircraftman George Henry PALLEN

Based on his grave record, LAC Pallen died as a result of enemy action; other evidence places him as one of the two victims of a hit-and-run raid on Lewes, Sussex, on 20 January 1943.

1461348 Leading Aircraftman John Yiannis KOURATOU

Inferring from the registration of his death and his unit connection to a known casualty of this incident (Corporal Reginald Bawden), there is a reasonable case that LAC Kouratou was killed by a V-1 at Hoe Street, Walthamstow, on 16 August 1944. More than twenty other people died when the flying bomb hit shops at the junction of Hoe Street, High Street and Church Hill.

I seem to recall they were driving a truck down the street at the time of the incident ?

Corporal Bawden's death certificate gives his place of death as 'Stoffer's Fish Shop, Hoe Street'. The shop was on the north-west corner of the junction of Hoe Street and Church Hill. As you will know better than I, precise locations of death were determined by a range of factors, but this certainly doesn't rule out being in a truck in the street.
