    Hi Dave,

I have Theo’s book and he has 166 Sqn PD260 claimed by Oblt Arnold Binkmann of 8./NJG3 for his 5th victory at 01.15hrs in the area of Rahden. It also states it was conned by 1-4/Flakscheinw Abt 498.

    Cheers,

    John.

The book reference is from 'On Wings of War' by Jim Wright (the story of 166 Sqn). Re the discrepency of serial vs code, 'Avro Lancaster the Definitive Record - 2nd Edition' - Holmes gives PD260 as AS-N, and AS-U there was a PD266 accredited to it. All books/authors highly respectable and usually highly accurate, who is correct ?

    Hello all,
PD260 was taken on charge by 166 Sqn 9/8/44 and was lost on it's second sortie. The squadron appendices show that it was coded 'N'.
At that time 'U' is shown to be PD226.
    Regards, Mark.
