Livingston's Rotating Hexagon

I've just finished reading Will Iredale's book on The Pathfinder's . A reference (as per the Title) is made to a machine for testing Air Gunner's night vision.
Has anyone on this forum come across a photo or diagram of this machine? A Google search comes up negative.

There are a few results online if you search under 'Livingston Rotating Hexagon'.

And it sounds like a great name for a 1970s prog rock group...
