    Sydney John LARSEN
He appears on a UK incoming passenger list for the vessel Akaroa arriving in Cardiff on 27th March 1943. The manifest confirms his service number as 421730

    Tom,
Confirming that Larsen's given names are Sydney John. His log book or a copy of it is held by the Air Force Museum of New Zealand.
    Cheers,

I think Edward Robert Davies aka "Eddie" is correct don't know about service number.
Larsen known to everybody as "Snaz".
Schofield known as "Dave" as the links show RCAF.
Jack Taylor was RCAF he did his first tour with 430 (RCAF) Sqn on recce Mustangs service number in 430Sqn ORB is J7426.
Wells known as "Ray"... perhaps Charles Raymond Wells?

Gentlemen, a big thank you for the information and insights.

With Steve's info I was able to look up Jack Taylor in the Canada Gazette. He was commissioned from Sgt. w.e.f. 18 Sept. 1941: R54727 John Head Taylor (J7426). I believe the NCO number and middle name are correct but this issue of the CG (Vol. 75, No. 15) is one of many that are poorly legible.

Steve, I did not find an AIR 78 card for a "Charles Raymond Wells." However there are a couple of other candidates. Firstly, 1321767 Cecil Raymond Wells (196855) commissioned from W/O w.e.f. 16 March 1945 in the General Duties Branch. The Air Force List for July 1945 confirms that he was a pilot. If my first name had been "Cecil" I would probably prefer to be known as "Ray"! The other possibility is 2289537 Cyril Raymond Wells, apparently never commissioned.

Does anyone know whether the Sgt. E. R. Davies who served with 229 Sqn. in May 1943 is the same chap as the one in 19 Sqn.?

    Best Regards,
    Tom

Thanks, Richard. So are you saying that he definitely is the Sgt. D. J. Love who was on 19 Sqn.?

    Regards,
    Tom
