Ofw Karl TREBING pilot of Bf 109E-4 of Stab III./JG 3. Shot down during aerial combat, crashing at Plum Pudding Island, St Nicholas at Wade, Kent

Lt Karl EGGERT pilot of Do 17Z-3 ‘5K + ER’ Shot down on 26th August 1940 crashing onto the rocks at Foreness Point, Kent. Died two days later.

I've been away for 10 days so am slowly catching up with your useful posts.
Regarding:

MANTON, Edward - Sgt - 810081 - RAF (AAF).
Hawkhurst Cemetery, Kent.
Spitfire Ia - R6629 - 610 Sqn.

There has been much debate about this loss, see:

As can be seen, even the date was in question, although 28 August 1940 would seem to be correct.
P9433 now seems to have been discounted, as it was not taken on charge by 610 Sqn until 9 September 1940.
R6629 would indeed seem to be the aircraft involved.
It is perhaps unusual (but not impossible of course) for an aircraft involved in a fatal crash to be repaired.
Does anyone know the exact circumstance's of Manton's loss please?
According to http://www.bbm.org.uk/airmen/MantonE.htm
the Spitfire crashed at Great Wigsell Estate, Hurst Green.
