    Hi,
    THOMPSON, Chester William McKinley - Sqdn/Ldr - 18081 - RAF.
Magister T9814 crashed 6 miles South of Dalwhinnie.
The hand written Police report from Constable (illegible) Kingussie on 16/9/40 at 6.15PM states that "a Colonel Robert? has phoned from the Dalwhinnie Unit, he has passed the remains of a burnt out aeroplane about 10 yards from the main road, 6 miles beyond Dalwhinnie. It is not known what became of the Pilot or whether this is a British or Foreign Plane. I have informed Kinloss. Perth Police have been informed."
A second typed report received from L.M.S Railway Office Inverness at 5PM 16/9/40. " We recieved a message from the Signal Box at Dalanreoch which lies between Dalnaspidal and Struan:- An Aeroplane came down in flames 3 miles South of Dalnaspidal. It was observed by the driver of a Pilot engine about 4.38PM. It is clear of the line"
I am 100% certain the death certificate was dated 16/9/40.

    Alan.
