There is a Dependant's Pension card on Fold3 which has his date of death as July 23rd 1920, and cause of death 'disease.'

The dependant is his mother Mrs. Sarah Morland, and her address is Heath Lodge, Woodley, nr. Reading.

There is also a Form S.B. 36 which has Heath Cottage as the address.

    Paul,
His Death (from FREEBMD) is recorded as:-
    Deaths Sep 1920, MORLAND, William, 27, Reading 2c 358.
That fits with a Wokingham Birth Reg.
I live only 3.5km from the Berkshire Record Office in Coley Avenue, but my mobility is a bit limited these days.
But if all else fails (and nobody comes up with the goodies!) I might be able to go down there and hammer on their door!!!!!

Simon thanks This is the last (IIRC outstanding) sons School War Memorial - which features

    1) At least 1 name twice
    2) A number of initials wrong - Stone mason must have had a bad source
    3) An adoption and death under another name - See Allan Priest
    4) Missing initials
    5) And someone who's should probably be on it.. (pre was non-natural death in Service in a Bombing in Jerusalem in 1938 while service Police officer) - a couple of post WW2 deaths qualify
