    Default 85 Sqn victory 28/29 September 1944.

    Hi All,

A Mosquito from 85 Sqn on an intruder patrol on 28/29 September 1944 shot down a JU88 Night Fighter of 4./NJG4 which killed the pilot Hptm Fritz Sothe at Lambrecht south west of Mannheim-Ludwigshafen.
Does anyone know the names of the Mossie crew?

    Cheers,

    John.

85 Sqn summary of events: https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...ils/r/D8454888
it was Flt Lt Phillips and Flt Lt Smith.
They claimed a Ju188 while flying Mosquito code Y

    Hi Andy,

Many thanks for that information mate, Iím one of the Archives team for 158 Sqn and the Australian War Memorial have contacted us as they have a instrument panel and control stick from one of our Halifaxís which crashed in the UK after being shot up by Hptm Fritz Sothe. They plan a display at the AWM of this panel so this completes the story.

    Cheers,

    John.
