The Dependant's Pension card doesn't record a cause of death.
The dependant in question is his mother, Louisa A. Odell, 87 Cardigan Road, Reading.
The entry in the UK Army Register of Soldier's Effects records that he died after discharge, which had occurred on December 7th 1915.
However, his death was reported in the Reading Mercury of February 12th 1916, page 2 (see FindMyPast.co.uk).
The article records that he died of consumption at his parents' residence. He had been serving in Egypt, but was only there a few weeks before falling ill. He was sent back to England to hospitals in Birmingham and Nortorn (in Gloucestershire), and then sent to Pinewood, Hastings. Once it was found that there was nothing that could be done he was sent to his home, where he died.

Simon
