Default W I Wilson history in RAf if any.

Hello from NZ and thanks for allowing me to join.

Im Looking for more information about a 'W I Wilson' preferably his first names. and if he had any enlisting papers. im trying to track his family down in NZ to return the photo to them.
He lived in Wellington NZ and Tauranga NZ in his later years.
I have been told he was a RAFVA in 1943
I have a photo, however i dont seem to be able to post it. im gathering its maybe because im new?
The photo title is: A Flight, No. 1 Squadron, 21 I.T.W., July, 1943
I have been trying to use ancestry to track him however its like a needle in a haystack with the amount of Wilsons

    Any help appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum

As a start point, the photo A Flight, No. 1 Squadron, 21 I.T.W., July, 1943 would have been taken during his basic training in Torquay (where No 21 Initial Training Wing was located at the time), prior to him being posted (probably to RAF St Athan) to start his training in his recommended air crew trade, which in this case was as a Flight Engineer..
    Main areas of research:

    - Aircrew Training (Basic / Trade / Operational / Continuation / Conversion)
    - The History of No. 35 Squadron (1916 - 1982) (https://35squadron.wordpress.com/)

[Always looking for copies of original documents / photographs etc relating to these subjects]

    NZbandit, Hi, Welcome.
    A couple of “possibles”??

    William Inglis Wilson 1821840 1943
    William Irvine Wilson 1898175 1943

Neither appear in the London Gazette
    HTH
