Hello,
Typhoon JP936.
When with 257 Sqdn on the 25th February 1944 it made a crash landing and overturned on touch down at RAF Friston.
The pilot McGill was killed.
I can only assume that the aircraft was repaired and returned to service later, as on the 7th March 1945 serving with 245 Sqdn, hit HT cables while attacking a train near Amden. On this occasion its Pilot Mossip was killed.
Is my assumption correct or is one of the serial numbers incorrect ?
Alex

Hi Alex
According to my research, Harrison Taylor ("Moose") Mossip was killed in action on March 7th, 1945 as Pilot of Hawker Typhoon JP936, with No. 245 Squadron, and with the rank of Flight Lieutenant.
I hope this helps.
Andrew

Thank you both,
It would confirm that JP936 was indeed the same aircraft that the two pilots were flying when they met their fate.
Alex
