From Google it looks like he was in India in the late 1930s, but details of that as well as a couple of other postings are on the RAFweb site and I don't have a password...sorry!
I'm sure someone with access can help you.

Meteorology is a science; good meteorology is an art!
We might not know - but we might know who does!

Interesting he went from Mohawks to his final flight on a Stirling.
So are we saying,
he was born in India, back to UK for schooling/college, and back to India for his SSC. He prangs a Mowhawk at Dum Dum 18 Jan 42. "They" decide he should become a 'bus-driver', where he cops it in Europe 4 Feb 44. What was he up to in those 2 years? I would have thought there was a greater need for qualified pilot aircrew (of whatwever type/ability) in the FE than in Europe at the time?
I am beginning to get a feeling in my water that there is more to this one than meets the eye???
I shall keep a beady eye on this thread!!

Gents,
Thank you all for your posts. He joins 620 as a Flight Commander. I have used up my allowance with RoS. But next year his will be the first I order.
