Default The Hawker Hurricane Database (Beta)

Okay this is a pet idea of mine.. but only made possible because of the data that was being shared by our members and researchers.

This is an attempt to build the first online “Database” for Hawker Hurricane airframes. This is intended to be a crowd-sourced project so if you have an interest in this aircraft, please email the webmaster at admin AT rafcommands.com

The database can be accessed at http://www.rafcommands.com/database/hurricanes/

Consider the current state as a “Beta” version.

What can you do with this data? you can figure out the “Mark” , search on partial serials, Get the “TOC” and “SOC” Dates, Look up the “Details” page and see the recorded “Incidents” and “Accidents” against the serial, figure out the Country that the airframe was sent to or ended up with and a few other operations .. you could try looking up engine numbers too – less than a couple of dozen examples are populated in the table..

Multiple Researchers have got together to build this database. Prominent among them are Geoffrey Sinclair and John Engelsted. Geoff contributed the Mark wise data, the country shipments, TOC/SOC/WO dates.

Want to be part of the project? - send me an email and I will set up access to the DB file that is the source for this information. you can update one entry or a thousand.. depends on the interest you have in this aircraft... this cant go any where without the 'crowd sourcing' portion of it

    Thanks to Mariusz Łożyński

Nearly 270+ engine numbers for "N" serial Hurricanes have been updated into the DB.. Mariusz has also contributed movement records for these N series aircraft .. With 319 engine numbers on record, that 2% of all Hurricanes built :-)

There is also a test page that retrieves serials by Squadron or Unit..

    Jagan,
The two incidents for P3645 would appear to be duplicates of the same single incident.
I'm pretty sure 9 Aug 40 is the correct date. PASZKIEWICZ didn't join 303 Sqn until early August.

P3803 has a link to AIR81/1388 which I think needs removing.
We also need to confirm a serial for either the 12 Aug 40 or 2 Sep 40 loss, as they can't both have been P3803...

The entry for BD949 needs tidying up.
The link to AC Hardacre needs removing.
Also, Sgt Pike of 238 Sqn was presumably killed in another aircraft - ideas anyone?
Finally, wasn't this a IIC rather than a IIB?

    A quick cross-reference to Paul's useful post regarding HL683:

    Needs adding.

    The entry for V6958:
    http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...php?uniq=V6958
shows a pilot baling out wounded on 25 Oct 40.
However, the aircraft survived until 1941, as noted.
Presumably Beard did not actually bale out, or another aircraft was involved?

    Similarly R4227:
    http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...php?uniq=R4227
shows two incidents a month apart.
These are one and the same - 15 Dec 40 is the correct date as per the ORB
