    Default colours of the period

    Hi,
on the way to Dusseldorf in the night of 11./12.6.1943, an aircraft of 51 Squadron "fired the colours of the period", to make a convoy recognize them as friendly.
Does anyone of you know how these colours were coordinated between Navy and Royal Air Force and if there exist any documentation about the colours of this period (June 1943)?
    Thanks.
    Best wishes.
    Marcel

I thought they were colours of the day and changed daily. I don't know at what time of day the colours switched. It must have been awkward to fire the right colours outward bound but not on the return.
