Jim,
I wonder if your editor mistook "Topcliffe" for Torquay?

I have been reviewing a copy of A.M.O. 945 (see here: http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/sho...-para-7-para-4) and it is heavily edited with handwritten notations. References to RCAF "R" Depot are struck out and replaced with "RCAF Personnel Depot, Topcliffe" At what date was "R" Depot discontinued and replaced with Topcliffe? It would seem likely to me that this would have been post VE day. Any information most appreciated.
During 1944, Topcliffe was an HCU for 6-Group. Dad completed his HCU at Topcliffe.

The answer to your query is contained within Dave's second link 'In February 1946 the depot’s various sections closed down and control was transferred to the RAF bomber station in Topcliffe, Yorkshire.'

Thanks Dave, Chris. So it seems “both” are correct! In any event the edits don’t pertain to the situation during the war.
