Default No.8 Aircrew "P" Course - What does the "P" stand for?

    Hi Everyone,
Re: Sgt. John Henry Jack STUBBS RAAF (1918-1942), 406374.

Im writing to ask about a few details in his personal file, namely:

    1. Jack was an aircrew trainee in the EATS No.8 Course, but Ive seen it written, No.8 Aircrew P Course. Can you tell me what the P stands for?

    2. Jack was enlisted as an aircrew trainee in Group V (P) with the rank of AC II. And on graduating from No.5 Initial Training School, in Pearce, Western Australia, he was put into Group II (P) with the rank of LAC. I believe that Group V and Group II are pay categories, but what does the (P) stand for?

Ive been thinking the P in both cases might stand for Probation, but Im not sure.

    Regards,

    Dermott Kelly

    Hi Dermott,

As he was a Pilot my guess would be the P stands for Pilot.

    Cheers,

    John.
