ABILDSOE, Stein, Lieutenant (No.13, Royal Norwegian Air Force) - No.4 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit - Air Force Cross - The following recommended citation is from Public Record Office Air 2/9019 and was drafted when he had flown 2,028 hours (141 in previous six months). It is not clear if he received this award; other persons nominated at this time had their Air Force Crosses gazetted 1 September 1944.

This officer, prior to joining the unit, served with No.330 (Royal Norwegian Naval Air Force) Squadron from 1940 to 1943. During this period, in addition to carrying out operational duties, he acted as instructor to all new pilots on Northrop, Catalina and Sunderland aircraft. Since being posted to his present unit, Lieutenant Abildsoe has been employed as a flying instructor and relief flight commander. He has displayed, at all times, a sound sense of discipline and initiative and has set an excellent example to his pupils.
