Cpl Eric J. MacDONALD - 1379548- the Chelsea News of June 13th 1941 reported the following:

Mr. Purchase held an inquiry at Westminster Coroner's Court on Wednesday into the death of Corporal John Eric MacDonald (32), of the R.A.F., whose body was found in the river off Westminster on Friday.
His father, Mr. John Hall MacDonald, 12, St. James Drive, Wandsworth, said deceased had been brought up by his grandmother. She died three months ago. Deceased was very distressed about it. He joined the R.A.F. in January and was undergoing a course of training for the military police. On May 30 he was granted 14 days' leave.
P.C. Levy, 555AWR, said that at 3.45 a.m. on May 31 he found an R.A.F. tunic and respirator on the pavement at Westminster Bridge. Papers in the tunic bore the name of the deceased.
The coroner remarked that deceased seemed to have been distressed because of the death of his grandmother, and mentioned that fact in a letter he left behind. A verdict that deceased took his life while the balance of his mind was disturbed was recorded.
