    Default Unaccounted airmen - 2-6-1941

    What were the places of death registration for:

    LAC (Pilot u/t) Reginald C. BURBIDGE - 1378218;
    AC2 Cyril F. CHANDLER - 1047058;
    AC2 Ernest J. GRIFFITHS - 1110477;
    Cpl Eric J. MacDONALD - 1379548 - 254 Sqn (Aldergrove/Antrim), and
    AC2 James R. MELLING - 1073540.

    Proposed aircraft losses for this day:

    Tiger Moth II - N6783 - 9 EFTS - abandoned Berkswell near Coventry.
    Beaufort I - L9888 - TTU - crashed in forced landing 2 miles W of Abbotsinch.

    AC2 Cyril F. CHANDLER - Age 35 Henley District - Not found in Flight magazine
    AC2 Ernest J. GRIFFITHS - Not listed in England Wales I think - Listed DOAS Flight Mag Jul 17th 41
    Cpl Eric J. MacDONALD - Not listed in England Wales as I would expect, listed DOAS Flight Sep 18th 1941
    AC2 James R. MELLING - Age 20 in Wigan District. DOAS July 17th Magazine

    Henk, I noticed we might not have checked Flight for these men, hence I edited my posting above to include KOAS, DOAS etc where found.

    Burbidge in Oxford R6114 of
    3 FTS which ABS lists as being on the 3rd.

    Hi Henk,

    No fatalities or injuries incurred on the Beaufort. Pilot was Sgt D Brett, 742065.

    AC3 E.J. Griffiths was recorded in the No.11 S.F.T.S. ORB, he was seemingly accidentally shot by another airman while they were on guard duty around the fuel dump and died as a result about an hour later at Shawbury. The other airman was AC2 R.W. Gray 610015.
