    Default W/C Gilbert Ivor Rees - 31037 - Died 13/3/43 - Alamein Memorial

    Hi to everyone,

    Can someone enlighten me with any information concerning W/C Rees, as in the reasons behind his death. Was he lost during flying operations, if so can anyone provide:-

    Base;

    Aircraft Flown/Flown in;

    Serial No and Code;

    Possible Crashsite.

    Also, as I have no place of birth, would it be possible if someone could - if at all - provide details of this. Sorry, if this seems a lot to ask as it seems a tall order but any information will be gratefully received.

    Regards.

    Steve.

    Steve,
    According to Death Register, it gives HMT Empress of China at time of death, so presumably on board ship.

    Steve,
    'Ref' my first reply, found out that HMT is abbrev for Hired Merchant Transport, cannot find an Empress of China lost on that date, but have found Empress of Canada, sunk by Italian submarine 'Da Vinci' on the same date as Rees's death, so might be an error in the death register.
