    Default 611 Sqn Spitfire loss

Currently for sale on ebay is a German-sourced photo of a crashed 611 Sqn Spitfire coded FY-G, said by the seller to have been taken in France in 1940:

The band around the rear fuselage would seem to date the photo from 1941 or later.
There are a lot of candidates for this loss. Can anyone offer any clues as to its identity please?

Could be Spitfire Vb W3427 in which Sgt Albert Edward Gray was flying when he was taken PoW on August 26th 1941 during Circus 87.

    John,
Thanks, any particular reason why you favour W3247? (there is a typo in your reply)
A quick look through FCL for either POWs or those buried in France also comes up with:
    W3311 on 6 Jul 41
    W3325 on 9 Jul 41 - pilot buried Pihen-lès-Guînes, near Calais - this was FY-D?
    R7208 on 11 Jul 41
    P8756 on 7 Aug 41
    W3442 on 27 Sep 41
    W3838 on 27 Oct 41
The incident could also have taken place in 1942 or later of course.

My reason for choosing W3247 is that it was coded FY-G.

Thank you - that would indeed seem to make it the very likely candidate
