Two Dakota Aircraft Details Needed

Hi,

Wonder if someone would kindly check these two Dakota serials for me. Both are shown undertaking parachute exercises with No.620 in Feb 1946.

Dakota Mk.III KG627 and Dakota Mk.IV KJ925

Would like to confirm if they were on squadron strength at this time?

Sorry but AB's KA100 to KZ999 only has the following -

KG627
ME
Read to US 29.5.47.

And

KJ925
357/62

Aircraft letter was "L" with 357 Sqdn. Was recorded still with Sqdn at end of August 1945, returned with engine trouble on 28th.
Ret'd to US 29.5.47.

With this one maybe the "62" is an error for 620 ?

Last mention of KJ925 was on the 15th September, 1945 in the 357 ORB as far as I could see.

Full answer I given in the TOCH site, looks as if they never were with 620 Sqdn after all.

Hello Chas,

Have looked at 620 Sqdn's ORB fo 1945/1946.
AIR27/2134/56 page's 18 &19 (February '46) does list Dakota's with what looks like 27-2-46 "KG627" Jenkins and 28-2-46 "925" Shaw and "627" Jenkins so may be KJ925 after all.
