Interwar Rates of Pay

Can anyone point me in the direction of a resource listing the interwar rates of pay for pilots, please?

I am specifically seeking 1923, but a broader list, if available, would also be a helpful point of reference.

Detailed pay tables are included in the irrregular infrequent editions of
Air Ministry "The King's Regulations and Air Council Instructions for the Royal Air Force" (Air Publication 958).

My 1943 edn had pasted in amend slips in profusion, incl over the pay scales, in such a way the underlying earlier states could be seen readily. No longer have it.
I don't recall how far back the scales were dated as published.
Long-winded way of saying perhaps a later edn than c 1923 would do, but read on...

As you're in Brisbane, for Australia,
WorldCat.org appears to show 2 1930 edn copies in "Libraries near Sydney" but the underlying links seemingly broken, so no idea where. Huh.

Aus War Memorial Research Centre Library has two Edns listed, 1943 and 1938.
With major rebuild underway, unsure, didn't check, how accessible the AWM Research Centre is at present...

National Library of Australia: no copy of any edn in NLA, however...

I've found the Vic State Library v helpful in the past, using InterLibrary Loan twice at least to access books not otherwise accessible to me in here in Canberra. Forget the costs involved but well below the price of the book in question or fare to Melbun.

Couldn't spot any online scans of KR&ACI, though there could be.
No for sale copies on Bookfinder.com at present.

For comparison the c1943 booklet "The ABC of the RAF" had current war-time pay scales +allowances. Numerous copies of that around.

Not precisely what you want, but you will find information about "Airmen's Trade Groups and rates of pay, 1919", and "Airman Trade Groups and Pay Scales, 1934", in the following publication:

The Paladins A Social History of the RAF up to the Outbreak of World War II.
James, John.
London:Futura Publications,1991
pp.260-1 (Tables 19 & 20).

Table 19 (1919), provides a listing of Trade Groups I to V with functions, and rates of pay in shillings per day (Boy to S. Major I). Table 20 (1934), also has a listing of Trade Groups I -V, again with functions, and pay rates per annum (AC2 to WO1).

The copy of "The Paladins" that I am quoting from is the Futura paperback edition, which is a reprint of the Macdonald, 1990 hardback edition. I can't access my hardback copy at the moment.

PS. Table 21 (p.262), has an "Officer Pay Scales 1934" (Pilot Officer to Air Chief Marshal)", in LSD per annum.

Thanks everyone, especially for your detailed reply Don.

Apologies for the delay in responding, though. A burst pipe under the bathroom sink and four hours absence from the house meant that we spent the weekend having carpets ripped up in seven rooms of the house, and everything in drawers, on shelves and in cupboards now in boxes in one of the few dry rooms left... not exactly how I planned my weekend...

Knowing which publication to look for has helped, thank you.

This search also threw up a couple of other interesting docs, and someone with the tag 'Air-Researcher' has also uploaded a lot of interesting scanned documents: https://archive.org/details/@air-researcher

I do like the Internet Archive and, over time, have found a lot of scanned (and often downloadable and/or text readable) documents and books.

For the information of members, the two pages were from
The ABC of the RAF (Sir J Hammerton ed, Amalgamated Press), a 1943 edn of the RAF sanctioned booklet first issued 1941.
It neatly summarises a range of useful info for those considering RAFVR enlistment in war-time (cf the KR&ACI tome where it takes many more tables and pages to cover the ground in regulation detail).
Copies are usually readily found via eg www.bookfinder.com, mostly in the UK and at mostly modest prices - none on offer from Aus dealers at present.

The Tables show Trade and Pay Groups for the RAF, and Daily Rates of Pay for Tradesmen (all) and Air Crew (by mustering) for all classfns and ranks from AC2 to WO.
Those for Officers are found elsewhere, eg in KR&ACI but not* as far as I can see in The ABC etc.
*Incorrect, see Edit below

Bear in mind these are the wartime RAF rates applying to non-Officers as at Jan 1943.
RAF Trade Groups, musterings, and pay rates in 1923 or 1924 are another matter, as noted previously.

Last night, I was quite unable to get my post to display the attached tables (though loaded to my own webspace), either as an IMG attachment or as a weblink, so I deleted the post - not knowing that Steve would get a notification and be able to retrieve the file. Steve now has at least OR Pay Rates for aircrew at Jan 1943.
