Meteorology is a science; good meteorology is an art!
We might not know - but we might know who does!

Sorted! Thanks Peter and Paul
Just a few more details.
He was missing in Barracuda LS556. Details from Ray Surtivant's FAA Aircraft 1939-1945, page 181:
RY 8.1.44; 830 Sqn ('5F':'5K') 3.44; ADDLs, tail damaged Hatston 21.6.44 (Lt AW Lawrence RNZN); Op Mascot, FTR Formidable, A/S patrol off Norwegian coast with Corsair JT404, diverted due to fog, believed ditched nr. Steigen 18.7.44 (L/C Baker-Faulkner, Lt. GN Micklem & PO AH Kimberley killed).
Some more details here: http://www.bbm.org.uk/airmen/Baker-Falkner.htm
Baker-Faulkner and Micklem both had their photographs featured in an article in the Daily News of April 8th 1944 about the attack on the Tirpitz (presumably Operation Tungsten?).
The National Probate Calendar has the following for Micklem:
MICKLEM Guy Noel D.S.C. of Heriots, Stanmore, Middlesex died 18 July at Sea. Administration Llandudno 11 August to Ralph Micklem brigadier H.M. Army.
He was also Mentioned in Depatches in October 1944 'for bravery and skill in an attack on an enemy destroyer off the coast of Norway'.
Regards
Simon
