    PATS,

F/Lt K.A. Craemer is mentioned in 2 TAF, Vol. 3.

184 Squadron, Typhoon JP535, probably hit by Flak f/l NE Soest (not sure which one: Germany or Holland?).

    Regards,

    Leendert

PS N.C. Billington mentioned a few times in Flight archives, early war years.
promoted to F/O 10 Oct 1940. Also mentioned with Accountant Branch.

Nothing on Billington; Creamer must have been Soest in Germany (tasked armed recce Hamm - Gütersloh).

    Hello,

RAF 74317 - Neville Cooper Billington is likely taken POW in the same time-frame
    as I have for most - 87 - other POW's related crashes - 6 Feb - 9 Mar 1945 -

    06 Feb to 28 Feb 1945 - 72 crashes
    02 Mar to 09 Mar 1945 - 15 crashes

Leendert, Henk and Piet, thanks for the info about Creamer.

    134997- F/Lt. K. A. Creamer - Kenneth Archibald Creamer - RAFVR -
184 Squadron RAF, Volkel, Netherlands - Hawker Typhoon IB - MN745 - BR-?
21 Feb 1945 - Flak NE of Soest, Germany
    - source: TAF, Vol. 3. - info by Leendert Holleman, Belgium - 13 Oct 2008 -

    - tasked armed recce 'Hamm - Gütersloh' - info by Henk Welting - 14 Oct 2008 -

    - 184 Squadron, No. 121 Wing, B-80 strip Volkel, Holland
    - Creamer flew on 21-02-1945 Typhoon MN 745 - info by Piet Truren - 16 Oct 2008 -

    ORB - 184 Sqn - 21-02-1945
Form 541: 184 Squadron, No. 121 Wing, B-80 strip Volkel, Holland. This proved an unhappy day for the Squadron. F/O Ross, leading the second show in the HAMM area, was seen to go straight in to the deck and F/Lt Creamer, on his first Op., did not return. It is thought that the latter crash landed because of engine failure. The first show of the day, led by P/O Wheatcroft had so much mechanical trouble, that it was completely abortive. Claims for the other were 5 trucks damaged, a rail cut effected, much poorer results than would justify the loss of two pilots.
    - info by Piet Truren - 16 Oct 2008 -

    ORB - 184 Sqn - 21-02-1945
Form 540:Two sections of four aircraft led by F/Lt Hornall took of 15.10 hrs to carry out an armed recce of the HAMM-Gutersloh area.F/Lt Hornall and P/O Gilham returned to base with mechanical trouble so P/O W.D. Ross RNZAF took over the lead. Attacked 20 trucks. Cannon strikes seen. P/O W.D. Ross after diving through cloud on second attack was seen to hit the ground and explode. F/Lt. Creamer on the return journey streamed glycoland said he was going to force land. Because of cloud no one saw him do this. All remaining aircraft landed safely at bast at 16.50 hours.
    - info by Piet Truren - 16 Oct 2008 -

Creamer flew MN 745, Ross MN 749; ( JP 535 did not fly that day, not from 184 sqn)
there flew F/O A.E. Pavitt in JR 535 that day from 184 sqn, but he returned safely.

    Default Lt. J. V. Laffey (74317) - Territorial Army - Army Air Corps G.P.R.

It seems to be Lt. J. V. Laffey (74317) - Territorial Army - Army Air Corps G.P.R.
who is in our POW 'mugshot' list.
So we can skip N. C. Billington (74317) - same service number -

Any info about Lt. J. V. Laffey is welcome.
    ( Likely James V. Laffey )
He is also in the records as Laffy

Gazette Issue 34487 published on the 25 February 1938. Page 33 of 108

    TERRITORIAL ARMY.
    ROYAL ARTILLERY.
    66th (S. Midland) Fd. Bde.—James Vincent LAFFEY to be 2nd Lt. 26th Feb. 1938.

I would suggest by the look of his name that he might be Irish.

A James Vincent Laffey was born in Mountmellick district, Ireland (County Laois or Offaly) in 3rd Qtr 1910, perhaps a little old for a Glider pilot but probably not. Age 28 at commishiioning in 1938?

    Might be a co-incidence.
