    Default Unaccounted airmen 24-6-1941

Checking CWGC-registers with my database found another airman sofar missing in my files.
What was the place of death registration for:
LAC (Pilot u/t) Michael Hilward JONES - 1290247, age 18.
Could there be a match to an aircraft loss mentioned in my message # 1 ?
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Henk,

Regarding Ollier I too have him listed as Whitchurch Age 21. He is not listed on the RAF Overseas War Deaths 1939-48. From researching several of the men listed on the Runnymede Memorial Addenda (Panels 289-292) who died from war related injuries 1946/47, it is more likely the grave was lost or not probably marked or commemorated !

Thanks Mark. The Whitchurch in Shropshire ?
I've OLLIER and BEARDMORE (both registered Whitchurch, Shropshire) as being killed on Master N7999 and this aircraft only fits two airmen !
    Regards,
    Henk.

AC1 William F. BEARDMORE - 940687; Listed as DOAS it seems in the August 7th magazine, Ollier is not however seen in this list and cannot find him in any listing, we have seen previous ground staff deaths as DOAS which I find strange.
AC2 William J. CRUDGE - 1273405; not found in Flight magazine. No return for hat name in Scotland either.
LAC (Pilot u/t) Michael Hilward JONES - 1290247, age 18. Likely is listed DIED or WOUNDS OF INJURIES RECEIVED ON ACTIVE SERVICE. There is a Michael H Jones age 18 listed in Kings Lynn district, Norfolk
LAC Robert J. McLINTOCK - 543619, listed as DOAS
AC1 Kenneth OLLIER - 1105089. Cannot find him listed in Flight magazine, certainly not in same magazine as Beardmore.

Interestingly Crudge appears on a Family tree on Ancestry.co.uk and death is given as 'accidental explosion' but there are more details but I can;t seem to get to them. I've contacted the owner however.

    Found this however,
    http://www.angelfire.com/de3/fileycasualties/wwiinew/noncommemorationarmy.htm
Stanley Idris Mick Bennett (Private) – Aged 32

Killed in the same accidental explosion as R.A.F. serviceman William Crudge on 16th April 1941, Stanley belonged to the 6th Battalion, Kings Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster) and was originally from Harrow, Middlesex. He was the son of Thomas and Mary Bennett. After his death Stanley was laid to rest in St. Oswald’s

There is a Stanley Bennett registered in buckrose district in that Quarter of 1941, no middle initial given. Filey is listed as being in that district.

Looks like Crudge name is spelled wrong on the register and CWGC have mixed up his date of death? The 6 and 4 have been transposed. ??

The kind lady who runs the family tree, not directly related gives this information:

William John CRUDGE b 1922 and died 16 April 1941
Aircraftsman 2nd Class No 1273405 aged 19 yrs Killed by Accidental Explosion. Son of Harvey and Gertrudge (nee POPPLETON) CRUDGE, of Paignton Devon.
He was stationed at RAF Hunmanby Moor, Yorkshire.

    The website above also lists:
Albert Alfred Izaby (Private) Aged 34

The third man to die in the accidental explosion at R.A.F. Hunmanby Moor on 16th April 1941, Albert was another member of the 6th Kings Own Royal Regiment. He was repatriated to his home village of High Halstow near Gravesend where his parents Mark and Emma Izaby lived.

Just coming back to the Kenneth Ollier topic. For those that are interested i have since discovered he is buried in Over Tabley Churchyard, Cheshire. See below:

I've contacted the CWGC, so hopefully they will amend their records.

    Cheers, Tom
