    Halifax III NA618 LK-N was airborne - 21:54 - 20 Feb 1945 from Burn, UK
    to bomb the Rhenania Ossag synthetic oil refinery in the Reisholz district
    Attacked by a Ju88 and exploded in mid-air
    The two airmen killed, Sgt. W. Bean and F/Sgt. C. G. Jerram,
    are buried in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany

    W/O Mason was flying as the mid-under Air Gunner and is reported to have been badly injured
    Apart from this NCO, the rest of the crew had arrived on the Squadron 24 Nov 1944
    NA618 was one of two No.578 Sqdn Halifaxes lost on this operation. Other was NR191

    F/L C. Denley, F/S J. A. Cahill, F/S F. E. Mayer, Sgt J. P. Maguire, W/O J. Mason and W/O J. Ford were confined in Hospital due injuries until Liberation. No POW Nos.
    F/O C.Denley (also reported as I.Denby / I. Denley ) was also confined in Hospital
    due injuries until Liberation. No PoW No.
