Hi Linda,
I've just pulled my copy of Carter's "DFC, and how it was won..." off the shelf, and unfortunately it doesn't contain a citation for Hibbert's DFC, merely a LG date of 27-3-45.
A search of the LG online archives produces the following page, but again, no citation: -
http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk/ViewPDF.aspx?pdf=37001&geotype=London&gpn=1655&type=ArchivedSupplementPage&all=&exact=&atleast=&similar=
It is my intention to get the 156 Sqn ORB, as a lot of 1 Group men went to that Sqn as Pathfinders, but alas, it is still on my "to do" list i'm afraid. Sorry i can't help any more than that.

Hi Greg-Many thanks for having a looksee,oh well,a date is better than nothing!Cheers!
His DFC was gazetted 27 March 1945 but (as previously noted) with no citation. Nor does one seem to have been published in Air Ministry Bulletins. Your best bet is to trace the original recommendation which, on the basis of slight evidence, I suggest would be at Kew in AIR 2/9051. I base this on findings that four members of the RCAF decorated for services with No.156 Squadron (similarly with no published citations), whose awards were gazetted about 27 March 1945, were found to have had their recommendations in that file.
Thanks for that info Hugh, very good of you and will try and follow it up.Many thanks
Linda - i can't be sure until i've checked later on today, but i believe that Hibbert had gone to 156 from 100 Squadron. If you do manage to find his recommendation as per Hugh's pointer above, i'd be very grateful if you could post a few details here so that i can add them to my 100 Squadron files.
TIA,
