    Default No.3BPD (ARP) ?

Can anyone please enlighten me as to the meaning of the above abbreviation. I believe 'ARP' to be Aircraft Repair Park?

    Any help appreciated

    Regards
    Peter.

    Hi Peter,

Could the "BPD" refer to Boulton-Paul Division?

    Hi Peter,

I can confirm ARP as Aircraft Repair Park and I have BPD as Base Personnel Depot

Aircraft Repair Parks were a WWI type unit. I'm not sure that they reappeared during WWII.

Many thanks for the replies chaps.

Errol, I did wonder about the Aircraft Repair Park being WW1. I obtained the explanation from a site that gives abbreviations from WW1 to WW2 but does not differentiate between the two.

    Hi Peter

I had the same problem with 3 BPD. Mine was that 3 Base Personnel Depot was formed at Fort de L'eau on 5/11/43 moving to Portici nr Naples on 21/1/44 (Sturtivant/Hamlin) but as far as I could ascertain neither of my men served overseas. Hopefully yours did

    Cheers

    Hi Eddie,

My man did serve overseas, Italy in fact.

Seems he left Italy (232 Sqn Groundcrew) in '44 and is logged as being with 3BPD (ARP).

    Fits in with your reply.

    Many thanks

    Regards
    Peter
