Default Lancaster & the 8000lb bomb

    Gents,

Was there a serial batch of Avro Lancaster's modified to accomadate the 8000lb & 12000lb blast bombs. I am not refering to the Lancaster's of No.9 & 617 Sqdn's. Also has anyone a decent photograph of a Lancaster with the enlarged bomb bay. ?

    Regards

Steve: The earlier aircraft of the KB700 series (Canadian Mark X) came off the assembly line with the enlarged bomb doors to accomodate the 8,000 lb bombs. I'm not sure of the 12,000 lb bomb. I'm not sure when they reverted back to the more streamlined design. I have a photo somewhere of those lancs and the bulged bomb bay doors are clearly evident. Some of the people of the Lancaster Archive Forum may be able to help. Also, Richard K. could probably comment. I know he monitors this site. If you want to PM me, with your email address, I will send it to you.

Further to this topic, I posted a link to this thread on the Lancaster Archive Forum, where there was some discussion...
