    The Globe and Mail, 1944/03/29

    has the following article titled:
    Commissioned Abroad
    Fifty-four non-commissioned airmen from Ontario have been awarded their commissions as pilot officers overseas, the Royal Canadian Air Force announced here yesterday.
    Twenty-five of them are pilots, the rest occupying every position in air crew, The list, with
    home towns, follows;

    And among the names is
    Pilot:
    WO1 G. M. Shoebottom, .London;

    So London Ontario.

    Ancestry.com UK Inbound shipping records has a G M Shoebottom arriving in Glasgow on March 1942 on the transport Myrmidan, age 22.

    The name is fairly rare on Ancestry.

    Many thanks Richard and Dennis for your help. Another brick in the wall.
    Hopefully the G M will be revealed to his first names.
    Best wishes and thanks,
    Roy
