    Hi Henk

Croad was certainly at Zutphen on 7/1/45 but his E & E report indicates he may have moved on from there. If anybody can help with the date this area of Holland was liberated, this may clear up this mystery.

    Cheers

    Eddie,
Zutphen may have been liberated on or around 7th April 1945. As a 12 year old boy I met the allies 2nd April 1945 at 's-Heerenberg, just N of te German town Emmerich.
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Eddie,
Just found in the book "Canadezen in actie" (Canadians into action) by Bollen/Vroemen that the first Canadian tanks arrived on the market square in Zutphen on Sunday morning 09.30 hrs 8th April 1945.

    Henk

I suppose that begs the question would he have remained hidden in Zutphen for three months? His E & E report simply states that from 'from there my journey was arranged for me' which I know was a popular term used in such reports.

McMahon enlisted in Birmingham but I don't know his home town
