Default 121777 P/O Kenneth Joseph HOWSON Died 20-10-42 21 OTU

I have some details from the RAF Overseas War Deaths 1939-1948, confirming that 121777 P/O Kenneth Joseph HOWSON died 20/10/42 was serving with 21 OTU. Howson is buried at Glasserton Parish Churchyard Scotland. He is not listed in any of Chorley's works.

So I was wondering if he was from the crew of Wellington IC HD984 21 OTU lost 20-21-10-1942 ? Whose crew members are listed as dying 21-10-42 and being listed on the Runnymede Memorial. (lost at sea ?)

As Howson is listed as overseas I believe his body was most probably washed ashore ?

    Any help much appreciated !

    Hello Mark,

Looks like he could have been one of the crew of HD984 as Vol 7 BCL OTU's has only "20-21 Oct 1942 - Wellington Ic HD984 - Training - T/o 2250 Morton-in Marsh for a night cross-country. Lost without trace. The entire crew are perpetuated on th Runnymede Memorial. It was unusual for a Wellington to operate with a four man crew but, to date, these are the only names traced."
    P/O. T. Proctor +
    P/O. E.J. Dando +
    Sgt. C.S.George +
    F/S. E.W. Chessor RCAF +

Most of the Wellingtons listed have five crew.

The death register entry records that his body was found on Carleton shore 7/11/1940 and death due to 'multiple injuries presumed to be due to aircraft accident'. Certified by S/L BJ Beckford LRCS, RAF Wigtown.

Carleton is at the bottom of the Wigtown peninsula, about 10m S of Wigtown airfield.
