    Default Presentation Hurricanes

    Hi all,

I would like to ask for serials + any other details about following two Hurricanes - which I believe were presentation aircraft:

READE TILLEY in one row under cabin
    AMHERST
BURMA in two rows under cabin

    TIA

    Hi Pavel

Can you date the first Hurri? I doubt that READE TILLEY is a presentation aircraft but rather the name of the pilot. Reade Tilley was a member of 121 Eagle Squadron

    Default Hurricanes

    Hi Pavel

No doubt someone will provide the necessary details but didn't Stanford-Tuck fly a Hurricane with the name 'Burma' on it. Don't know if that was a presentation a/c though.

    Default Tuck

    G'day Ianh

Tuck was the C.O. of the Hurricane Mk.I-equipped No. 257 'Burma' (F) Squadron from October 1940 to July 1941.

Hi chaps, many thanks for your posts.
I forget to mention that I suppose both photos were taken at 257 Sq so it makes clear the "BURMA".
I also believe the photos are from 1941 and I gues something betwen summer and October.

The three names you quote are listed in an appendix in Gifts of War, however only one serial is known

V6864 Burma (one of several with this name)
    Amherst
    Akyab
    Burma Police
    Maulamyine
    Rangoon
    Reade Tilley
    Tavoy I
    Tavoy II
    Tavoy III

    regards
