    Default Halifax V LK 693, 19.Nov.43

    Dear mates,

the above a/c probably crashed in my vicinity. Pilot W/O II K. C. Smith rests on CWGC Rheinberg.
Does somebody know the whereabouts of his comrades who were able to bail out (e.g. place where they were taken POW)?

    Thanks in advance, George

Check out these two links that relate to this aircraft:

    http://www.spiritofcanada.com/veterans/stories/open.php?type=rcaf&target=lifeStalag4b

    and also
    http://www.rcaf434squadron.com/crew-downloads/

    who list the crew as:

    #41/H5/LK-693/WL-A
    W/O2 K.C. Smith
Sgt H.W. Bull POW 1395755 RAF
    F/S W.E. Rowbotham R/94777 RCAF POW
Sgt C.J. Hoare 1314118 RAF POW
Sgt S.T.K. Smith 1814514 RAF POW
Sgt L.M. Wheatley R/166032 RCAF POW
Sgt. H. Turner 1210960 RAF POW <--- This is only man with single initial in Ross's list.

I've added the service numbers and RAF or RCAF from Ross's lists on this very site:
    http://www.rafcommands.com/Air%20Force%20PoWs/RAF%20POWs%20Index.html

    Hope this helps

    George,
Mr. Rowbotham is still with us, I had a telephone chat with him about 2-3 months ago, also mailed him some information. Still very sharp and was quite talkative. Lives in Calgary Alberta.
