Any chance you could add his name?

Do you have any further information about him?

    Johnnie,
I wondered who was going to break cover first, and ask for a name!
Small, private, wager! If this Squabbling Bleeder turns out to to be a Jones, Davies, Williams, then you send a cheque to the Bomber Command Memorial Appeal. If, on the other hand, this Welsh S/L is named as Farquharson-Chomondley, or Jock McJock, then I will do the bizz!
Could be a bleak Xmas here at Tottering Towers. I've already lost several similar bets (but BCMA are the winners).

PS And might Steve not actually contribute to BCMA for his transgression in not mentioning THE name?!!!

    B****R!
Another bet turned to worms! Another 5GBP on its way to BCMA! Good job I never tried to make my living out of betting. But, there again I was a Met Man, and I made a living out of betting on the weather - or against it!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Steve, nice unusual name to work with!

Born last quarter of 1913 in Swansea, mothers maiden name....Jones!

Looks like he had a sister Rosamond Y A E Hiles born third quarter of 1911 in Swansea. There are also a number of Hiles (with mothers maiden name Jones) born in Willesden and Marylebone between 1913 and 1927 - Alfred E (also born last quarter of 1913, so twin brother? - although why would he be registered in London?) Ada, Charles, Frederick S, Jack and William H.

    Its a start for you.

I have also messaged a possible relative on one of the genealogy sites, so they may have a look at this and get in touch.

    Cheers, Tom

    Hi Steve

I am Waldo Hiles' first cousin once removed and also live in Swansea. I think I made contact with you a number of years ago when you sent me a number of pages of info on Waldo's service upto and including his demise for which I again thank you. Tom thorne made contact with me via Genes Reunited to say that someone in this group was interested in Waldo. Waldo married Elizabeth Shanley in Witney, Oxfordshire ( the marriage being registered in 4Q 1940. They had a son Jenkin Waldo Hiles who was born on 15th October 1938 in Islington and is currently residing in Hong Kong. I tried to contact him thru the Old Camrian Society in Kenya where he was educated before going to Sandhurst but received no reply. Whilst writing this reply to you, however, I have discovered that there is a Jenkin Waldo Hiles in Facebook. I am not a member yet but it may be worth a try.

If you wish to contact me outside of this forum my email address is:-

    regards
    Ron Hiles
