    Default Llewellyn Corrie Jones-Bateman

Hello gents, i posted a query a number of months ago regarding this airmans pre war service, but i am returning to it to find out some more details.

Can anyone who still has access to the Times online see if he appears following his death on the 12th June 1943? Unfortunately i can no longer check it! He flew Gladiators with 80 Squadron pre war and then seems to have transferred at some point to the FAA. CWGC has no next of kin info and i am trying to find out if his father was Llewellyn Jones-Bateman KIA in 1916? I can find no birth register for L C Jones-Bateman, so he may have been born overseas. I was hoping that the Times might, just might, have a small obituary for him or even a birth notice?

Any other input is welcomed! Anyone know his cause of death also? I presume it was a non flying accident.

    Cheers, Tom

A Cecil Jones Bateman and a Sibyl R B Corrie married in the Poole district in Q3 1915.

She must be Sybil Rita B Corrie Born 1886 in Surrey District.

Might be his father mentioned here:

Fantastic! Well done all. It appears his father was Cecil who married a Miss Sybil Corrie in 1915 in Poole, Dorset. Still can't find Llewelyn's birth though! He appears to have had a sister Joan E M J Bateman, born 1919 in Poole, mothers maiden name Corrie.

It's proving a bit harder to find out when and where he was born than i first thought!

Cheers for the great help gents. I'm still open to further help if its on offer though!

    Tom,

He was posted in to 80 Sqn 8 Mar 37, according to RAF AFL July 1937 - still there in the Mar 1938 edition (correct to 15 Feb 38).
