    Could someone help with the following entries found on a RAF service record for a Radio Mechanic 1940-1945. Thank you


    14 Sep 1940 ACHWO
    18 Oct 1940 10(S)RC
    17 Mar 1941 9RC
    16 May 1941 8BC
    27 Dec 1941 75 Sigs Wing Ames or Arnes

    14 Sep 1940 ACHWO = Aircrafthand Wireless Operator
    18 Oct 1940 10(S)RC = No.10 (Signals) Recruits Centre (at Blackpool)
    17 Mar 1941 9RC = No.9 Recruits Centre (also at Blackpool)
    16 May 1941 8BC (8RC? = No.8 Recruits Centre (at Arbroath)
    27 Dec 1941 75 Sigs Wing Ames or Arnes = No.75 (Signals) Wing (at 'Hill End', Henbury near Bristol. Responsible for ground radar stations. AMES = Air Ministry Experimental Station, a cover name for radar stations

    Source for most of above is 'RAF Flying Training and Support Units since 1912' by Sturtivant, et al.
