    Default No 9 B&G School, Mont Joli Accident

    Hello all,

    Im looking for any information pertinent to plane crash at No 9 B&G School, Mont Joli, Quebec, 19/05/1942. Five men were killed in this accident.

    Fairey Battle 2022 - But if you say 5 killed maybe a collison with anotherr unknown Battle ?

    Hi Paul,

    thank you for info. In contemporary article from newspapers is mentioned crash of one aircraft, no reference about second aircraft. Victims of this crash were: one US member of the RCAF, two leading aircraftmen from New Zealand one from Australia and last one could be RCAF corporal Clarence James Rooke.

    Grave/Memorial Reference: Lot 34. Grave 1.
    Cemetery: METIS BEACH (UNITED CHURCH) CEMETERY

    and the Australian (whose casualty and service files, unfortunately, have not been digitised yet):

    Initials: I J
    Nationality: Australian
    Rank: Leading Aircraftman
    Regiment/Service: Royal Australian Air Force
    Age: 27
    Date of Death: 19/05/1942
    Service No: 413494
    Additional information: Son of John Henry and Emelie Shaw; husband of Kathleen Mary Shaw, of Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia.

    The American in the RCAF killed this day at Mont Jolie was

    PO Arthur Francis HALAMKA of Milwaukee
