    Henk,

Just to confirm Hector K.9719 of No.2 A.A.C.U. 'C' Flight pilot Sgt Nosowski - Overshot landing slightly of wind owing to slope of landing ground (Roborough); swung up to avoid boundary hedge and tipped onto nose. Pilot uninjured.

    Kind regards,

    Tim

Sorry , Another 'Bounce' to an old thread.

The Mystery of Cherala Raghava Rao is now solved. He is incorrectly commemorated on RUnnymede . He died in India.

On 4 Sept 41, He was flying as observer to Sgt HARRY RENTON HARVEY - near Jullundhar. They were from Flying Training School Ambala. Both were killed in "low flying attack on Jullandur by a steep turn low down without banking over". Harvey killed outright. Rao died of Burn injuries later.

Type of aircraft / Serial number not known - but the detachment was flying Audaxes and Tigermoths. So has to be one of them.

Regarding him being commemorated on Runnymede, not the first time. We have found that Bhaskar Daniel Gnanamuthu is also commemorated in error even though he died in an accident in india.

Thanks Jagan. Will go after the serial of the Audax or Tiger Moth.

Thanks to Colin Cumming's Clipped Wings - Volume 1 - the aircraft is confirmed as Audax K5529. The book however is missing the name of Raghava Rao and records him as unknown.
